New trends are popping up each year that are influenced by media, technology, and usability. As 2017 comes to an end, our graphic designer Benjamin Lamb gave us the inside scoop on design trends from the past year. Let’s take a look at what took off in 2017!
When it comes to website navigation, little details make a huge impact on your traffic. For utility websites specifically, there’s a strong need for users to be able to find the information they’re looking for easily. Why? Because there’s often pressure or frustration associated with paying their utility bill or solving a problem they came to the website for. And if visitors go to your website only to find a lack of clarity or misleading links, they’ll immediately look elsewhere or call to complain.
When someone says “stock photography,” it can send shivers down spines of creatives in the advertising field. In 2016, 7.6% of marketers said stock photos had the most impact despite being the most frequent visual. Meanwhile, 41.5% of marketers said that original graphics performed best. Stock photos are commonly used for smaller agencies and businesses because it can be a quick, simple solution to finding high-quality photos in little to no time.
If they’re not already, email campaigns should be on your radar as one of your go-to marketing channels this year. Email audiences are continuously growing – and they’re going mobile, too. While designing an engaging email can be difficult, you can make a great impression on your audience and see a great ROI by understanding and implementing visual elements.
