American Crystal Sugar Company’s website provides many resources for its frequent users. From product overviews to temperature range charts, every resource is designed with convenience in mind. And every resource is intended to help simplify user experience as much as possible. After completing a website redesign with help from Onsharp, they once again turned to Onsharp for custom app development, to create a unique web-based agricultural calculator that helps many people, especially farmers, do their job more easily.
Adding New Tools
To kick off the project, Onsharp met with American Crystal to learn what they were looking for in the tool. They learned the American Crystal team had spreadsheets they maintained in-office that performed certain calculations. These spreadsheets helped farmers and website users simplify their daily life. The ultimate goal was to convert these spreadsheets into web-based calculators that had the same look and feel of previously-created resources already found on site, but could be used on any device without having to download any material. After meeting and defining the goals, Onsharp began development.
The Onsharp team asked questions and made recommendations in order to make smart, efficient decisions. Onsharp developed and tested the product along the way to ensure the calculators worked properly and maintained necessary functionality. They also made sure to develop the calculators to be mobile-responsive, so users could use the tools from anywhere, on either a desktop or mobile device. The final product allowed American Crystal to enhance both their overall website and their users’ experience.
With development completed, American Crystal was very happy to add another resource to their digital collection. With help from Onsharp, they have been able to add many web-based calculators to their website in order to improve user experience and serve as an industry resource, including the Herbicide Rate Calculator, Variety and Freight Calculator, and more.
Web Analyst at American Crystal Sugar Company, Joe Dolalie, shared his excitement for the tools, saying, “The Onsharp development team did a great job for us on building the new web-based calculators. They look great and were completed in a timely manner.”
