Leverage the Power of Social Media

The Chamber of Fargo Moorhead West Fargo was geared up and actively creating a more engaging presence on social media with their Twitter Team. Their group Twitter Training with Onsharp had provided the basics for using this tool in their work. But, they knew that they could be doing more.  Now, each team member was ready to dig into ways they could use Twitter in their specific role in the organization.

 

Creating a Plan

Sharing both experience and national statistics that show significantly higher success rates for individual training and plans, the Onsharp team suggested individual action plans. These plans take an individual’s goals and translate them into a checklist of to dos to reach those goals using social media. It was the perfect next step to build the Chamber’s Twitter team. Individual action plans were created in two sessions.  In the first session, Onsharp focused on understanding each employee’s individual role and goals – what they hoped to accomplish in the next year, how they currently communicated with their key audiences and how they were currently using Twitter.  The Onsharp team took that information and translated it into individual action plans — a checklist of things that could be done daily, weekly and monthly to meet those goals.  During the second session, action plans were reviewed.

The Chamber Twitter Team members were able to put their individual action plans to use right away. The plans provided inspiration for post ideas, made it easy to find content worth sharing, and articulated what each individual’s responsibilities were so the team wouldn’t duplicate efforts.

 

Connecting with their Audience

Using their individual action plans, the Chamber Twitter Team has been able to better connect with new audiences, publish content more effectively and be more intentional about their use of Twitter. The team is grateful for the insight they received from the individual action plans, as well as how the action plan discussions brought their entire Twitter Team together to work toward their goals more efficiently. One member shared, “Thanks for bringing our team together. It’s been unforgettable!”
