Looking for a Strategic Approach
The Courtyard by Marriott Fargo-Moorhead had already established their presence on social media. They were active on all the right channels and posting regularly. But with many diverse audiences, like newly engaged couples, groups and sports teams, and local businesses, they were struggling to specify content appropriately and felt like they weren’t quite reaching their target audiences effectively or efficiently. Looking for a more strategic approach to their social media plan, the Courtyard by Marriott team turned to Onsharp for help.
Defining the Plan
Together, the teams decided that social media strategy guide coaching was the answer. This four-session coaching series provides a hands-on approach to creating the framework needed for a successful social media strategy guide.
To get started, the Courtyard by Marriott team worked with Onsharp to determine their goals for the project. Then, in the first session, the teams started with the basics. Onsharp introduced the social media strategy guide framework to the Courtyard by Marriott team and illustrated how it would help create a strategic plan for social media. Courtyard by Marriott team members, Katelyn Henagin and Brianna Volk, were then given homework to research and prepare for the next session.
Throughout the next three sessions, Katelyn and Brianna worked through the framework, customizing it for their goals and audiences. With guidance from Onsharp along the way, they created a complete social media strategy guide for their Courtyard by Marriott Fargo-Moorhead social presence. During the process, Katelyn and Brianna also discovered new ways to meet their goals and new features to implement on the channels they were using, like sharing user generated content from the “Fargo-Moorhead” location tag on Instagram. This would allow them to interact with their audiences in a more personal way while also promoting their business with true testimonials and guest reviews. It would also help them reach a wider audience and interact with those who many not have known about their Instagram account previously.
Connecting in New Ways
Keeping in mind the goals from the start of the project, Onsharp helped the Courtyard by Marriott focus on what was most important and determine the best ways to reach desired audiences through creative messaging and effective posting schedules. With their new social media strategy guide in hand, the Courtyard by Marriott team is transforming their social media presence. And they’re well on their way to reaching their goal of becoming a leading hotel in the Fargo-Moorhead digital space and community.
