If you are at all familiar with Onsharp, you know we really like
innovation and entrepreneurship. That's why we participated in the
second annual NDSU Innovation Week hosted by the NDSU Research and Technology Park.
Our President, Joe Sandin, is passionate about encouraging
students to make their ideas a viable business; which is exactly
what Innovation Week is about. Jan Sobolik and Brenda Wyland from
the Research and Technology Park work long, diligent hours to
schedule the events, organize the exhibitors, and find great
speakers for the breakout sessions. Common challenges, like
funding, branding and how to bring your idea from the "Lab to
Market", are addressed by regional professionals during the
breakout sessions.
In addition to the breakout sessions, students visit with the
exhibitors who vary from entrepreneurs themselves to business that
can help student entrepreneurs make their "dreams a reality". It is
very rewarding to see the excitement when students hear about
Onsharp's story (being started by two college sophomores and still
in business 10 years later). One of the best comments heard was
"these students just need to know that all the new ideas and things
don't come from
sixty-year-old men." Some ideas do come from experienced
professionals; some come from those with a new perspective.

Every business has a great story. Even if it's simply "We just
decided to start our own business." We'd love to hear your story!
