A Day of Caring with the United Way of Cass Clay

We are just as passionate about helping our community be successful as we are about our clients. Onsharp is dedicated not only to our clients but also to our friends and neighbors. On the 13th of October, members of the Onsharp team volunteered though the United Way of Cass Clay to help out the Larson family in preparing their home for the upcoming winter.

To ensure our clients' needs were met, a few team members stayed behind to man the phones. While those members were busy at the office, the rest of us were helping out at the Larson's. We raked, washed windows, took out old plants, swept the siding… Wait! What?! Yes, the siding was a little dusty so before we could touch up the paint we swept the siding. No shortcuts were taken here!

Day of Caring

True to our core value of having fun, we enjoyed spending time with our co-workers helping out a great couple. Someone even pushed me in the pile of leaves! Don't worry we cleaned up the pile afterwards. We're good at making the best of a situation and when a seemingly easy-to-build file cabinet was anything but easy, it resulted in some good laughs like this:

Onsharpian 1: Scott you worked so hard on the cabinet, you should sign it!

Onsharpian 2: He did sign it! With his sweat!

We had a lot of fun with helping out our community; we even surprised Mrs. Larson with new Mums in her outdoor planters! By the end of the afternoon we had developed a mutual friendship with the Larson family. In fact, they want us to come back next year and we are already planning which power tools to bring.

Getting involved in your community has benefits for both the giver and the receiver. At Onsharp we plan time in our schedule every year to participate in a volunteer activity as a team. However many of us also donate our free time to other volunteer projects throughout the year. One of the greatest things that can be said for volunteering is how inspirational it can be. It was great to see how much we as a team could accomplish in just a few hours that would have taken the couple several days to do. Their world is a little better and each of us that volunteered has that warm and fuzzy feeling as an added bonus.

Day of Caring - Everyone
