The phrase "Yes! I will!" might be echoing in your mind.
Engagement defined as two people betrothed is not the topic for
today (although a growing number of couples are meeting online).
Social Media engagement between your company and your followers,
friends, connections, etcetera is the topic.
Now that you have set up your Facebook page, a Twitter account,
and a LinkedIn page, encouraging meaningful interaction is the next
crucial step to success. Do you want another "billboard" that
potential customers hopefully see when they are on the internet or
an interactive experience for your customers? Here's one way to
engage your customers using a few social media tools:
Facebook:
Start a conversation about a topic related to your company. From
the "Discussions" tab (default for the page), click on the "Start
New Topic" button.
Twitter:
Reply to followers who RT (re-tweet) your tweets. Example:
@Follower Thanks for the RT! What was your favorite part of our
blog we tweeted?
Blogging:
At some point in the blog, ask your reader a question. You'll
see it often at the end of blog. Example: A frugal blog about
grocery shopping might ask- "How do you save money at the grocery
store?"
The goal of engagement is to ensure your customers continue to
follow, "like", and connect to you. Why do you want that? Because
you want your customers and potential customers to think of you
when they have a need for your product or service and you
accomplish that by keeping your brand in the front of their
minds.
So here's our question to you: do you have a plan to take it one
step further with your social media?
