W3C is pushing towards Last Call near the end of May 2011 for
the 5th major revision of the Hypertext Markup Language. It's time
to read up and try it out! These three sites are great resources
for history, overview, and play with HTML5.

Great read! And we really do mean read. There's lots of
information here about how we arrived at HTML5. This is the online
version of book that was recently printed "HTML5: Up &
Running". Awesome illustrations help tell the story.

As described in the abstract: This specification defines the 5th
major revision of the core language of the World Wide Web: the
Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). In this version, new features are
introduced to help Web application authors, new elements are
introduced based on research into prevailing authoring practices,
and special attention has been given to defining clear conformance
criteria for user agents in an effort to improve interoperability.
